Scope: 4° [XVIII]-678-[LXX]pp. + I Appendix
Pavel Kristián of Koldín (1539-1589), the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and the Chancellor of the Old Town of Prague followed-up in the codification of the urban law on the previous efforts of Brikcí of Licko. Kristián's proposal - approved in 1579 by the Czech Land Diet - was already based on the life of Prague's towns, on the land law and on various resolutions of the Diet. He also successfully incorporated some elements of Roman civil law into his code. The first edition in 1579 was followed by at least ten additional editions. The edition, which was prepared in Vienna in 1720 (the version of the bookseller Ignatz Rungger), differs in terms of the re-typesetting of the entire text and thereby it is also more correct. (ML)
